The cause of combination skin is inconsistent sebum production. That's why your skin has both oily and dry areas:
In the oily areas – mostly along the T-zone – the skin produces too much sebum. This sebum cannot drain away properly and this way promotes the clogging of the pores, which often leads to impurities such as blackheads or pimples.
In the dry skin areas – mostly in the cheek area – your skin produces too little sebum, which is why too much moisture evaporates. Small cracks make the skin susceptible to bacteria – these and excess skin flakes can also clog the pores. This is how inflamed areas as well as pimples and blackheads develop.
What your skin needs
The treatment of combination skin is about finding the optimal balance. The ideal facial care contains as few additives as possible and combines pore-deep cleansing with exfoliation. The skin is supplied with moisture and sustainably soothed.
To note: Active ingredients with sebum-reducing properties should rather be avoided, as the dry skin areas already produce too little sebum.
