This plane is milled and turned "from the solid", it is made entirely of solid brass, which is why it is very heavy. The matt chrome plating looks almost like stainless steel and leaves a very high-quality impression. The handle is short and very thick, so you automatically guide it very close to the planer head.
The adjustment of the gap width works very smoothly and precisely. The adjusting ring can be operated without loosening the blade when closed. It has a clearly visible marking and the numbers above it are also easy to read. It covers quite a wide range of settings from very gentle to very thorough. At the same time, the PEARL Flexi always feels as natural as a firmly adjusted plane and is always good-natured, provided that work is done with the pure own weight and without excessive pressure.
The target group for this plane is very broad - from lovers of heavy planes to technology-loving adjustable fans to beginners (this is the first adjustable plane that we also recommend for beginners because of its natural shaving feel!)
